Dear Mike: Baffled by what you say about the blank message. Yes I have tried
Google, which leads to a specific instruction that using ALT 0150 works
perfectly for producing n-dashes, but unfortunately it won't work for me.
I'm sorry that I don't know how to 'snip messages appropriately' (don't know
what it means). TS

I would by the way point out that the OOo website contains a lot of
documentation, and that judicious use of google can help sort a lot
of problems out. And, like many programs, OOo comes with a help file
accessible in the standard way - it contains a wealth of information,
admittedly it's sometimes quite terse though.
