But, yes, Bill, the author stuck to metric units primarily. It's just that he himself was not THINKING metric when it came to everyday use, e.g., judging distances. What impressed me about the Australians is that they have gone whole hog. They use metric, not only in trade and commerce, but also in ordinary parlance.
