I would only buy a new battery. As was mentioned before, rechargable batteries 
lose their capacity after using them for awhile.

If you buy a new one and want it to last longer: whenever you charge it up,
fully discharge the battery before starting to charge it again. If you
continually use a battery until it gets to about %50 and then recharging, you're 
really going to mess it up.
