I'm using a debian system, and I recently downloaded the nvidia kernel
and glx src, and then made the packages and installed them. When I
follow the instructions for including them in the XF86Config-4 file, X
won't start, the screen becomes black, and I have to manually power down
my system because I can't do anything--I can't even get to any of the
ttys. The card is a GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP.

On a related topic, at home I have an ATI 3D Rage II+. Is there any way
to get 3D acceleration for it? When I looked around, I saw utah-glx, a
package that is supposed to support glx for some of those cards, but it
says that it works for xfree86 version 3. Is there anything for version
4, or should I go to version 3 and try it? Or will anything work
better/at all?

Thanks,
Casey
