I propose that we use "OT" to signify "ON topic," since technical Unix
traffic seems to be a lot thinner than anything else :)

No, seriously, we've given up all efforts to keep this list
exclusive-to-Unix.  You just have to learn how to use threads and the Delete
key if you don't care about anything else.  For a lot of us, this is one of
the few places it's safe to express our views that might not run with the
conformist current around us.  And that, my friend, is a hallmark of the
Open Source movement and geek/hacker culture in general.

So welcome aboard.  Enjoy the ride.
