It's inconceivable that you can't receive updates. You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! However, Microsoft is a company, and I don't trust them to always make sense. Further, the agreement as quoted by Andrew is for specifically Windows 7, and if that is what they meant, then that wording makes NO sense, because although I would like to assume it means what you think it means, unfortunately if you are right then their English "do no think it means what you think it means....." I believe when it refers to updates in Andrew's quote below, they are talking about MSDNAA, not updates to previously downloaded software. In other words, you can no longer have access to MSDNAA once you are no longer a student. Again, I would add that the logistical as well as programming headache that would be involved in creating versions that check if people are students serve no purpose, especially if it is just for receiving updates. Doesn't that make common sense?
