OK .. OK .. stop laughing ... I suppose the only way we will ever know
"all" the parts that can be "stolen" from existing bikes and used on
the Vmax is to become part owner in a junk yard .... I realize that
there are probably a bunch of parts that some of you are aware of but
have used your better judgement and not mentioned them ... Well ... I
think I have one here ......
FYI ... the Yamaha XS1100 uses exactly the same rear end as the Vmax
... it even has the "shock" stud installed because it runs twin shocks
...... The standard gear ratio in these units are the same as the
Venture/European Max with a 10 tooth pinion and a 33 tooth ring gear,
(as opposed to 9/33 otherwise).
What is interesting about this is that the rear wheel that plugs into
this differential is 4.5/17 .... the front is 3.5/19 ...... the rear
wears a disc brake exactly the same size as a Vmax ..... IMHO ... the
rear wheel would pass as a mate to the early model Vmax front wheel
..... Alright .. your chuckles are more than I can bear ... I just
thought I would mention it ... if you want to see what one looks like
