The latest 'appn startup' problem I'm sure *is* a corrupted VDI, but it
probably happened when I was trying to break out of a frozen disk-thrashing
situation.
So far the backup copy is doing fine wih VBox 4.0.2, so I shall stick with that
for the time being, rather than re-try 4.0.4 (in case the VDI gets similarly
corrupted again).
