i see a lot of trouble doing this because of the kernel modules. which OS do
you use as host? Why don't you just upgrade to the lastest version? 4.0.4 is
very stable and you shouldn't get any upgrade trouble. 4.0.6 is rock solid
for me to, but there are some complaints about USB issues.
