Greetings --
I am running Kubuntu Jaunty. I installed, and am running, Virtualbox
OSE version 2.1.4 -- VERY old! However, it is not actually running at
this instant.
I took the hyper-link to downloadable libraries. There I chose the final
entry. Something like a dialogue-box popped up from the task-bar and
showed progress (briefly) and disappeared with no intervention on my
part.
After a while, a normal dialogue-box appeared and asked whether I want
to save the file or to open it with KPackageKit. I chose the latter
option.
After a little more time, KPackageKit opened a dialogue-box asking
whether or not I want to install. I chose the Install option.
In a matter of moments, I was presented with three "stacked" dialogue-
boxes.
The bottom-most is called "Installing file - KPackagekit". It says
"FINISHED" and has a blue button scrolling left-to-right and right-to-
left on a "progress meter". It has a "Details >>" button and a "Cancel"
button, both of which are greyed-out as unavailable. There is also a
"Hide" button which is actively available, but which I have NOT clicked-
on.
The middle-most is called "An internal system error has occurred -
KPackageKit". It has a warning icon (an orange exclamation-mark on a
yellow triangle). Beside the icon, it says "A problem that we were not
expecting has occurred. Please report this bug with the error
description." It has two buttons, both active. One is "Details >>" and
the other is "OK". I will return to this point momentarily.
The top-most is called "KPackageKit". It has an icon consisting of a
red field with a white "x". Its text says "Sorry, an error occurred."
There is one button only -- "OK".
I return to the middle dialogue-box, and choose "Details >>". Absolutely
NOTHING happens. in point of fact, NO button -- on ANY dialogue-box --
is operative. On the other hand, I have another dialogue-box called
"Install? - KPackageKit" which (again!) asks if i want to install the
package. The same dialogues appear, but I am now able to close all six!
Yet another dialogue appears, declaring that the files have been
successfully installed. GOODY!!! -- except that I am still running
VirtualBox OSE 2.1.4.
What should i do to get and SUCCESSFULLY install 3.0.8?
