If you are running Ubuntu I would look at using the repository as desribed  
in http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads under "Debian-based  
Linux distributions" This would be the best way of managing things.

If not then look at downloading the .deb file and just saving it somewhere.

Navigate to that file in a terminal and run

sudo dpkg --install /path/to/package_name.deb

That should work. I'm not 100% on that as I don't use debian myself.
