I don't run virtualbox on a GNU/Linux host, but to me, it looks like
you need to get rid of the virtualbox 2.1.4 package first, and then
install the 3.0.8 package. As far as I know, getting rid of the old
virtualbox won't touch your virtual machines. If you're afraid that it
might, you can always backup the virtualbox xml files, and your hd
images to somewhere safe, before you start getting rid of the old
virtualbox. Hth.
