>making for BIG low-res icons) the second answer was correct if
>you are talking about monitor _resolution_.

Just a point of clarification on this... In the Mac world, monitor
size means the physical size of the monitor. ie. 15", 17", 21", etc.
"Screen size" means number of pixels high/wide. ie. 640X480, 832X624,
1024X768, etc. "Resolution" means, dots per inch, or, pixels per
inch. Screen resolution is generally presumed to be 72 ppi.

It almost sounds like a paradox... If you have a multi-sync
monitor and set it to a larger screen size, everything on the screen
gets smaller, and, vice-versa.

In the Pee Cee world, the term "Resolution" means the same thing
as "Screen Size" in the Mac world. It also means picture size when
referring to a .jpg, .gif, etc.

Have you ever downloaded, say, a 640X480 picture from the web,
loaded it up in GraphicsConverter, or, put it in your slide show
folder for After Dark, only to find the picture displayed as a little
thumbnail?

The picture was probably "saved" in a Pee Cee graphics program.
The Pee Cee program defines the picture as being 640X480 resolution.
The Mac looks at the first number when determining the resolution
(640), then says, If the resolution is 640 (dpi) and the picture is
640 pixels wide, that should be displayed 1" wide.

It could also be a Mac user who scanned the picture at, say, 600
dpi & never bothered to change the resolution to 72 dpi for screen
display.
