I did this tonight with a spiffy little Apple External hard disk. It stayed
invisible connected to a PPC 6360, but mounted and allowed access with a
Performa 630CD. Why? The 630 is running 7.5. The 6360 is running OS 8.1.

He should get a drive mounted with a "Where did my files go?" text file on there though. At least, I always have when I've accidently booted my OS 8.0 instead of my 8.1 CD on my HFS+ Macs.
