Hi Todd,

No you are opinionated. You are just looking at it from your point of view.
For example you stated the voice memo app is no good for you That might be true
in your case but people who can hear might want to use this app and I am
guessing a lot of them do. So if you do not use the app just delete it. It’s
that simple. I could be like you and say well since I cannot see very well I
don’t need the camera app as I do not take pictures. So Apple can take all the
camera lenses and all the camera parts off the iPhone. So just because you
don’t use something does not mean others don’t use it. So you need to open your
head up a little and don’t be so hard headed. But I am sure you will not agree
with any of this because you are so close minded. You just look at things that
make sense to you and the things you don’t understand you close your mind off
to.

Mr. Ed

John,

It is so easy for you to say what you said below.

The statement I made stands to be correct.

Yes, Apple Inc. fails to do more thorough diagnoses on their updates! I am
sure Rich will tell you something.

No need to remind me about opinions. I am not opinionated; I am making facts.
 That is it.

Remember. You are expressing your opinion. It is the opinion of one person.
It is not universal. What you consider to be important apps or unimportant apps
is not shared among everyone. I agree with you on things like Stocks and Voice
Memos, but I know others who would not agree with that. So, as the expression
goes, Apple can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the
people all of the time.

Bugs are going to be in software. It’s a reality of any product based on the
fact that so many different development teams do so much different work as
updates are made available. I don’t particularly feel we need yearly updates to
operating systems, but apparently, the majority of those who buy the products
do appreciate it. There are certainly outstanding bugs in iOS that have
lingered for far too long, but name a software product in which one cannot
make an equally valid statement. Android, Windows, etc … they all have them.

Sieghard,

The app store, iTunes store, Phone, Mail, and settings are the ones that I
consider to remain. I did not say ALL should be "non-native" but those apps
that are absolutely useless, such as voice memos, stocks, should never be
native but non-native. That is where I stand for.

It is simply that a lot of the apps are simply useless and should never have
been native in the first place. They missed the point. I was one of the ones
who spoke out loudly at Apple. They cannot expect everyone to have their
products. When they said it, I simply ignored and made a blunt statement to
them making them realize they are just wasting such efforts making them native.
 That cannot be so.

Meantime, I see still bugs there. Apple needs to do more than just release new
versions of the iOS. They need to learn to do more thorough diagnoses to
ensure the apps work correctly before releasing them. Think about it.

Hi Todd,

The good news is that as of iOS 10 you can in fact delete native apps such as
Mail, Voice Memos, Stocks, Calculator and so on. There are still some which are
essentials to the operation of the phone which can't be deleted and that of
course makes sense. These are apps like the App Store, Settings and so on.

Sieghard

Hello there, Sieghard,

I have a Braille Sense U2 Mini, so I would have to find the correct commands
for that.

As for that app Home, it is totally useless to me, and I have no need for it.
So I would have kicked that goofy (smile) app out for good.

The only thing I abhor about Apple is that they tend to put many apps on all
products that are often useless and cannot be deleted completely due to them
being native apps. That really sucks! Yes, these folks at Apple Inc. are
missing something in a large way.

Not just Apple but other companies do the same. I just do not understand how
these folks act like this. they like to show off by saying there are apps you
need but the opposite is true.

It is just a real goof on them!

Thank you, Sieghard, for the information concerning the Home app.

Todd

Hi Todd,

Apple has come up with a standard for home automation devices. These are things
like connected thermostats, lights like the Philipps Hue, door locks, automated
sprinkler control systems, cameras, devices to open and close curtains or
blinds and so on. If you have any such devices and they support Apple's Home
Kit standard they will appear in the Home app.

I don't have a braille display, but maybe you know what commands to use if I
tell you how I delete apps and if you have ever moved apps you are half way
there. First, if I swipe up or down on any app on any home screen, Voiceover
says "Arrange Apps". At that point you can swipe up or down again with one
finger and this will go back and forth between "Activate Item" or "Move"
followed by the name of the app. If you then double tap on "Activate Item" you
will be asked if you want to delete the app and you can confirm and it will be
deleted.

Sieghard

Chris,

You mean that app is more for managing your personal doings?

It is still on my iPhone now. How do one remove that Home app? Remember I am
deafblind so I am a strong Braille user.

Thank you.

Hi

The "home" app is the hub for managing homekit devices. I simply removed it in
the very first, and I mean very first, non-public, beta of iOS 10, as I have no
homekit devices and was simply not interested.

Many of you may know this, but wonder if any of y’all know exactly what the
Home app that was appended to iOS 10.1.1 is for? Exactly what does Home do?

If any of y’all have used it for a time, share some of your experiences with it.
