If this is not some privacy infringement, can you give the example, i.e.
what was the app and folder called and what did you rename it as? I had this
happen once when I downloaded the One Touch Camera app, after downloading
Voiceover read it as "Camera" just like the iOS Camera app. I renamed it One
Touch Camera and the stock ap also had that label. I was rather surprised by
that since I assume they use a different icon graphic, in any case, Apple
should not allow apps in the app store which have stupid descriptions. The
Bank of Montreal app, for example, is simply read as "Banking".

Try to rename it again and do it about 3 or 4 times if it doesn't take
because when I renamed the stock camera app from One Touch Camera back to
Camera it only worked after the third attempt.

I went to rename an app this morning, that I was able to do before. Now it
not only renamed the app I was working with, but another app in the same
folder, plus the folder name also changed. I fixed that. When I attempted to
rename the app once again, it would not rename no matter what I tried.

Hi David,

I upgraded via iTunes and I have rebooted my phone several times since,
emptied the app switcher and I have now realized that the custom labeling
does seem to be problematic in some situations. I was, for example, not able
to label the "Previous", Play/Pause" and "Next" buttons in the Sonos
multi-room music app. The custom label dialogue comes up, I can delete the
existing label which is just a few weird greater than and vertical bar
synbols and type in Play/Pause, but when I save it it has no effect. I tried
it about 6 times since in some other cases the labels did finally take
effect after a second or third attempt.

Since at least 3 or 4 other people have had problems with this I must assume
that this is not coincidence especially since I was able to label these
buttons in the Sonos app without any problems before.

Sieghard

I encourage everyone who is having this problem to reboot your iOS device by
fully shutting down and then restarting it. Upgrading can cause memory
artefacts which will clear when you fully restart the device. For me, the
problems were: screen curtain not functioning even though it said it was,
and two-finger double-tap did not work to end a call.

Tom and others,

If it doesn't take the first time, just do it 2 or 3 or even 4 more times,
sometimes I have labeled items and it didn't take or if it did it changed
back later. I think it's because for some reason the button graphics changes
and then the label is not applied, I found if I do it often enough it
sticks.

One example where it was the other way around was with the One Touch Camera,
One Touch Voice Memo and One Touch Video apps. When I first installed them
their icons just read Camera, Voice Memo and Video just like the iPhone
stock apps. So I thought this is an easy fix and I relabeled them except
that then suddenly my stock Camera app and Voice Memo app were also called
One Touch Camera and One Touch Voice Memo. I subsequently deleted the One
Touch apps since I found I wasn't really using them and after I upgraded
yesterday suddenly my stock apps were once again labeled One Touch Camera
and One Touch Voice Memo. I brought up the custom labeler and deleted the
"One Touch" part, tapped save and once again it was still read as "One Touch
Camera". So I did it again and then again and finally after I think the
third time or maybe even the fourth the change took and now it's back to
just Camera and Voice Memos.
