I think what she is asking is if you have unlimited data can you keep it if you purchase your phone outright with no upgrade, breaks, etc. If this is your question, I do believe you can do the same with AT&T. However don't quote me on that. Yes, if that wasn't your question & you do want unlimited data. It'll be sprint for you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve" <pipeguy...@gmail.com>

Verizon doesn't have unlimited data any more, hasn't for over a year. I
think you want Sprint for that.

Hi All, Is Verizon the only company where you can buy your cell phone
outright and have unlimited data? What if you want to use your phone as a
hot spot, will you be able to add this to your plan as needed? This may seem
like a strange question but if you have an ipad with a data service that is
with att is there any way to switch it short of getting a new ipad? the
service is not a contract service but is merely one that you can enable at
will. Thanks.

My contract ended with Verizon yesterday. I still have unlimited data, 450 talk, and 200 MSGS per month for $81 and some change. I don't use much data, but I just can't wrap my mind around going to a shared plan. The only way I can keep my unlimited data is to buy an iPhone at full price, and that's what I'll probably do. I don't need unlimited talk and text, so why should I join a shared data plan which takes away my unlimited? It may sound foolish to pay full price for a phone, but while I was trying to decide what to do, I got service on a 5 through Sprint with unlimited data. Sprint's data network is terrible in my opinion, and I got out of that contract post haste! I live in a major Metro, and VZW is so far ahead of Sprint it's not even funny. I'm glad I held on to my unlimited data through VZW. I'll have to pay a lot to keep it, but to me, it's worth it.

This was going to be my line of argument, but you done such a good job of
it, I'll just agree and acknowledge the sense of it. Punative charging on
excess is like a licence to print money to them.
10c/mb is cheap, I just installed an app and it was 200mb; but a $/mb on
excess is morelikely and can be more. They doi t in £ here of course, but
still employ the same mechanisms to bleed the unwary.

My understanding is that once you get in to those shared data plans, you
can't get out. I could very well be wrong but the folks I've asked about it from both VZ & AT&T have told me that once you're in, you're in. I think the
overall question I'd ask myself is this. Is the money I'd save really be
worth giving up my unlimited data? If you were to happen to go over at some
point, you'd really pay. So, to me it'd be worth just hanging on to the
unlimited data if the cost difference was 20-30 bucks a month just to A,
insure that I didn't go over & B. just to be able to have it if I wanted it or needed it on a trip, your main internet connection out, etc. Now then, if
the cost savings were more than 30 bucks a month or money was really
becoming an issue. I perhaps would consider moving towards the shared plan.

Hi all,

I need some data plan advice. Currently, we have 2 lines with VZW, mine
is still unlimited data, the other line has just been downgraded to 2gb
data, because of an upgrade.

Well, to save some money, I'm considering revamping our plan, into one of
those share everything plans. The share 1gb of data, unlimited talk/text.
I did the account analysis over the last 6 Months, and if it is accurate, we
seldom use 20mb of data each Month. January, for some reason, each line
used 21mb of data. With this information, sharing 1gb shouldn't be a
hardship.

Any thoughts here? Am I crazy to give up my unlimited data?

How about those of you that use your iPhone as gps? I'm guessing that
takes up a lot of data.

Lastly, doesn't VZW make it pretty easy to change our plan later on? Say
if we decide to go up to the 2gb plan. Don't worry, I know I won't get the
unlimited data back. :)

Thanks for any guidance. If I am figuring this out correctly, it could be
a $25 savings each Month.
