make moving apps easier. I spent 3 hours one night trying to put just a
few
apps in folders, then had more screens with stuff scattered all over the
place. I finally gave up, went to setting and had it put them all back in
alphabetical order, pushed newsstand to page 6 where I don't usually have
any apps, moved my Fahrenheit back to my home screen and stopped messing
right there, oh, yes, I did put the stocks app in the utilities folder
also.
Then I can tell Siri to open an app and I don't have to go through 4 and a
half pages to find it, or if I want to drive my husband crazy, I start on
page one flick through each then to page two and so on. Worked better
than
an alarm did at waking him up one afternoon. He just had to know what
that
flicking noise was since generally I seldom employ that method of
exploring
a screen just use a finger and more often than not in many cases tap the
app I want without having to hunt for it. I don't usually need to hear
all
12 apps on my home screen to know that the temperature is going to be in
the
right hand corner just above the dock,. I was actually thinking of moving
mail out of the dock since I don't use my phone for mail and putting the
temperature in in the dock since it is something I want to know when I am
leaving for work or leaving work especially in the last few winter months.

The folders are exactly aligned in the rows and columns. I find it
much easier to move a folder next to an app I want to put in it then
the other way around. If you move an app and you accidently let go in
the wrong spot you may put it into another folder or create a new one.
If you move a folder you can really go with the little beeps as to how
many spots you moved it left, right, up or down. Hence if I have an
app in the very right place in row 4 and I want to move that into a
folder that sits in row 2 and column 2 (second from the left edge)
then I move the folder into row 4 column 4 which means into the
position the app is in, this will push the app into column 3 on row 4
which means it will be just to the left of the folder. I would simply
double tap and hold the folder, then drag it straight right 2 beeps
which means it's now in column 4 on row 2, then I drag it straight
down 2 beeps. Now I look for the app to the left of the folder, I
double tap and hold on it and drag it to the right just a bit until it
says it's on the folder, then let go. Now I can drag the folder back to
where I want it.
This primarily is only a matter of practice and as long as you have
good special awareness and are able to drag your finger straight
across a row or straight up or down you'll get better at it. What will
make it more unpredictable is if you have problems with the
directions, e.g. you think you are dragging your finger straight
across row 2, for example, but in fact you are dragging it across and
down
or across and up.

A folder will hold twelve apps. Also, sometimes VO will simply tell
you which row and column you're on, so be sure to note where the
folder's coordinates are. VO will sound a series of tones when you're
sitting on a folder. You can pause there until the folder opens.
