The reason why you don't pay full price for an iPhone is because your
provider subsidises the purchase by making you sign a 2-year contract where
you commit to paying a high monthly price for your phone service so in
essence it is not a one-time cost because if you decide to cancel your
contract after 6 months you will have to buy out the phone.

Rarely do we pay a full price for an iPhone either, good sir. And once
again, it's a one-time cost. If you must compare apples, please compare them
to apples.

This needs to stop. They can charge what they want and that doesn't make it
greed. All of us have an IPhone or other I device and rarely does anyone
accuse Apple of being greedy .. and how many billions do they have in cash.

As one who has received 4 dogs from the Seeing Eye over the past 17 years,
costing me a total of $300 I'd say that they are anything but greedy.
Hopefully this app takes off and helps them to offset the cost to them of
providing guide dogs for those of us who choose to use them.

Let's get back to talking about the right thing on this list.

Really? I never have, and I've used the thing for 2 years. Now, if there's a
map you don't have, then sure you'll have to pay for it. But if you don't
need the map, there's a good reason not to buy it. But no, any updated maps
I've pulled down have been at no cost to me. And as for descriptiveness,
they're descriptive enough if you actually pay attention to where you're
going. I've gotten me from A, to B, to C using that app with virtually no
problem. But then again, I also don't totally and completely rely on
technology not to get me lost either.

With the greatest of respect, I disagree with the note below. The seeing eye
application does provide additional description of intersections and
actually provides true turn by turn directions that are usable by a blind
person in a fashion that is much better than the other applications. For
example, if you're doing a pedestrian route with this application, you're
more likely to end up on the right side of the street to reach your
destination then you are with some of the other GPS applications. In
addition, if you do want to receive map updates on Navigon, You do have to
pay an extra fee. Thanks.
