Not true. The HDMI cable does have sound, but it also pushes the video, and when you have a sound bar that has this feature, you don’t need the optical cable. I use the HDMI cable from my sound bar to my TV, and both audio and video are pushed through the HDMI cable, get a HD picture on the TV, as well as HD sound.
