IMO, there is no special geometry, however if you want to have your way, then
there is also the possibility that any special geometry forms readily, so that
even though one site is destroyed, another soon forms to take it's place.
E.g. expansion <-> contraction, vaporization <-> condensation, &/or molecular
migration may readily form new sites, if e.g. the average particle size is
within certain bounds that are appropriate for them.
