I have previously expressed my opinion in regard to upgrades. To make it
brief: I think people ought to upgrade their equipment so it more or less
reflects today and not what was appropriate five years ago. So in my
opinion an absolute minimum is 68040 and a GFX-card and lots of memory.

I know a lot disagree because new equipment costs a lot, but Amigans spend
a lot less upgrading their computer than users of other platforms do - in
my opinion, naturally.

But no, users should naturally not buy extra hardware because the
programmer is a lousy programmer. But it has always been well-known that
the Amiga in general and MUI applications in particular tend to become
unstable in low-memory situations.

And probably Voyager more so than other programs in that it is a quite
graphics intensive program. Yes, I have had occasional crashes with
Voyager NG, but since I moved from AGA to CV64, these have been very rare.
I have to admit, that I don't think I have had one single crash that I can
ascribe to Voyager NG managing memory badly when visiting graphic intensive
sites.

On my system I can easily have Voyager NG load a page with 65 JPEGS each
600x400 pixels in size. The JPEGS are a total of 2.3 MB - haven't got a
clue as to what they are unpacked. And yes, they eats megs of memory.

But back to Olli. In my opinion Olli shouldn't spend his time optimizing
memory managements routines to make Voyager run on less suited equipment.
If a problem can be solved if the users upgrade their equipment to reflect
what currently is appropriate, then this is the way the problem should be
solved. He should rather spend his time making the JavaScript engine work
properly etc. etc. etc.

Well, that's my opinion. I know a lot disagree because they don't want
to upgrade their computer.
