Still true, but after playing around a bit more with the Truetype
engine, it's better than I thought. It seems to give good results down
to 12 pixels.
Below that, you need to hand optimise.
Now, how do we link together the members of a font family?
For instance, I have Tahoma and Tahoma Bold. I suspect that when it
reaches a <B> tag, V is just using algorithmic emboldening. How can I
set it to use an actual bold font corresponding to the normal? And the
same for Italic and Bold-Italic?
The effect of this will be more obvious at print resolutions, when we get
them, but it's visible on screen.
It would also be a good thing to add a line to select the outline font
for printing. Sometimes somebody might want to use all bitmap fonts for
the screen (eg Times) and an outline (CSTimes) for printing. When we
get print resolutions, of course.
