Kras,
I think you should take a better look at 3.5. It is more than a "cosmetic"
upgrade and puts a number of functionality items into the OS. As far as the
incompatibilities the only one that I saw was Arq. This kind of loose talk
without any facts to back it up is exactly what we don't need.
There are a number of hacks out there that admit they do not follow the
Amiga programing rules. So if the "apps" that you are talking about are
these then you are wrong to blame the OS. We could never upgrade the system
if the programers had to worry about improperly programmed hacks.
As for crying that there isn't even a rom. That has nothing to do with the
functionality upgrades since the changes they made that would go into a rom
are included in the setpatch. I bet you would be loudly complaining about
the price of a ROM if they had made one available.
If you want to support the Amiga and get future upgrades then get 3.5. If
there really is one application that doesn't run under 3.5 then run it from
a separate 3.1 boot partition. How about being part of the solution and not
part of the problem.
