I'm a bit confused about this. Can anyone please explain the reply system?

Surely many off-list replies are sent purely because this odd system of not being able to reply to the list solely by just hitting reply. If you reply to all, then you are sending two messages, which I find unnecessary, and if you want to just reply to the list, which IMO is mostly what people want/should be doing, you have to replay to all, then delete the individual's address and then move the WAMUG address to the the correct box. This doesn't happen in any other list/forum I subscribe to and I find it a pain, what's the reason?

Thanks, Matt.

You seem to be making " Hard Work " out of a very simple procedure !

The list was set this way some time ago because at that time a lot of " Bumf "
was being sent back to the list which had basically nothing to do with
Mac OS or hardware problems .

Something a bit like this nonsense about how this list works or does not work !

It's simple to set the reply to WAMUG ...
Using Mail ,
hit Reply
go to the end of the To address and click to edit address,
type W for the address you keep in your address book for Wamug ( autofills )
and away you go.

It makes you think about what you are doing .............. like
" am I adding to or perhaps correcting what is in this message ? "

If not .... perhaps the list does not need to see your message

Specifically the issue of off-list replies.

On a few past occasions folk have replied to me off-list with their help. I then took it upon myself to re-direct my subsequent replies back to the list.

It has been suggested that this is or could be a no-no.

I hope that anyone in the past who has sent me a reply off-list, was not offended when my response to it went back on-list.
