Hello Everyone

Another idea which might help.

Create a new netiquette page or modify an existing one. Publish it on the list from time to time (say every 3 months).

Include concise explanations about using and joining the group.

Include messages about the benefits of membership, but keep it short.

Publish and sing the praises of outstanding contributions. ie;

The selfless dedication of some contributors when answering questions.
The generous, humanitarian aid from those working on the Bali Macs Project.

Include useful links.

Newbies will be grateful and encouraged to participate in the 'community'.

Experienced users can delete it after a quick perusal for new info.

I understand that some of this is covered elsewhere, but out of site is out of mind.

This document should be aimed at both members and non-members.

Hi, well, my opinion as someone who has been on the list for many years, and seen how the old system works, is that this system does work better as Shay says. Many people hit reply to without thinking where it is going because they are thinking about the problem they are responding to. Cheers, Susan

Shay. Thanks for the explanation, although please forgive me if I still
don't agree with the system and think the reasons are a bit thin.

Maybe some of us don't have to think too much or carefully about
writing and are perfectly capable of responding or posting correctly
and can actually hold the responsibility of just hitting reply. I
don't experience the 'problem' on any other list apart from maybe a
very rare occasion, but maybe you get more of your fair share of
knuckle draggers in this neck of the woods.:-)

Just my opinion. Not trying to change anything, just asked why.

Cheers, Matt.

The problem with 'reply to sender' as the default is that many
(particularly novice) users intend to reply to the poster, and don't
realise it's actually going via the list. This of course is then
usually followed by a post which says "I'm sorry about that". And then
possibly a post from someone else which says "That's ok" etc.
