Further to the current debate I make the following comment.
Though not necessarily appropriate to everyone, I highly recommend
iPhoto Library Manager (http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ $US20).
This allows you to split/categorise your photos which is very
convenient for collections embracing different sources, nature and
uses. I have 19 such libraries. It is intuitive, used friendly and
straightforward.
What has gone before regarding display in "Photos" or "Events" still
stands for each library.
