1. It appears to have a simple setup, although I haven't done it yet (maybe tonight or this weekend -- it's my first so I want to analyze it). 2. The developers are trying to adhere to XHTML and CSS standards (look at the crazy code coming out of some of the CMSs not using CSS) 3. Uses php, mysql, and has several expansion modules including a calendar, comments, photoalbums, faq, and polls. 4. Still undergoing active development
That's my $0.02, although we should be more at the mercy of our webhost :^)
Being a "lurker" who contributes just once in a (great) while, I'd just like to say "thank you" to y'all. Any 'cool' stuff on my web page is most likely directly or indirectly from this group. Hope I can contribute once in a while!

Hi Gang,
I haven't followed this entire thread, but I do have a suggestion to make from the little bit I did grab and that would be to use a CMS instead of just plain boards and a site. I have done both. Integrating a portal into phpBB was more than I wanted to handle. The CMS will make things easier all around, boards are included it's an all-in-one option. Here is an example of the one I used for this kind of project:
