Arnon, once again, we agree. It is true that *some* announcements are under 140 characters and that *all* announcements could be made by including a link to a longer announcement. But then you need a separate place for the linked longer announcements (such as Google Groups). Note, this very thread started with an announcement that is well over 140 characters.
