You might even be able to convert the code implementing the portal->xwiki
renaming rules from the site transition application into a mod_rewrite rule
or mod_perl script to algorithmically do the remapping the same way, without
any database lookups or string matches.
(Remember, we're an community of engineers - we don't accept ETOOHARD without
convincing details, because we're all thinking of ways we could do it, given
what information we know about the site and our experience with other websites.
If there's some crucial piece of information we're missing that explains why
it wouldn't work for opensolaris.org, telling us that will save a lot of
arguing and e-mail over "Trust us. It's too hard." responses.)
