I don't find that and acceptable position. Getting a 404 because www. or no hostname is used is just not acceptable. This will cause people frustration and it will possibly drive people away from the OpenSolaris site.

It is pretty common for www.example.com and example.com to be where the main content of a site is.

http://opensolaris.org and http://www.opensolaris.org will direct to http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/ -- just as today they redirect to http://www.opensolaris.org/os/.

That helps a bit but only for getting to the top of the site:

Today if I either of these I get to where I want to go:

http://opensolaris.org/os/project/zfs-crypto
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/zfs-crypto

I get my page, but I'm being told that in the future I have to do this:

http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/Project+zfs-crypto

and that this won't work:

http://opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/Project+zfs-crypto

Am I understanding that correctly ?

but using either of the current URLs will work because there is
a redirect in place for them ?
