Thanks Jim,
I did a little analysis on the blogs on planet.opensolaris.org
and I'd like to suggest a new approach to managing the
blogs that get posted to planet.opensolaris.org...
Once a quarter a message goes out to all osug leaders
and community facilitators asking for active bloggers
in their communities/user groups. These blogs are then
submitted for inclusion on the planet blogroll.
Also once a quarter a quick analysis can be done to
verify that all the blogs listed are actually active.
Dead blogs can be removed from the blogroll and archived.
Messages are sent to those folks who blogs haven't
had an entry in over a year to see if they are still interested
in being on the planet blogroll (it may cause them to
start blogging again -- a good thing).
Here are the statistics from my analysis.
Total blogs: 115
Blog with posts within the last 60 days: 42
Blog with posts within the last year but not the last 60 days: 16
Blogs with no posts in the past year: 13
Dead blogs: 13
I see we're missing a number of very active OpenSolaris
bloggers... and it would be great to have their updates on
planet.opensolaris.org.

Would it also be possible to have a google-based alert feed
for blogs that mention OpenSolaris?
I just created an quick rss feed test page in Advocacy for
"opensolaris" on Google:
http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+advocacy/test
Any Collective Leader or Affiliate can do that using the default macro
in XWiki.
I see lots of blog updates
each day via Google that don't show up at planet.opensolaris.org.
That`s a slightly different issue. planet.os.org is for people who are
directly involved in the project (generally they have a close
relationship with the activities on os.org), so naturally that list
will be a subset of all the people in the world who blog on OpenSolaris.
Jim
