Isn't this the point of this email chain and talk page, though? To open this up to the broader community for development...?
The idea was picked up and developed in wikimania and is now being proposed as a starting point for development by the tech community on a broader scale. Seems to allow for the involvement you're interested in. I don't mean to be rude here at all, but it sounds like instead of lamenting the fact people weren't involved, we can, in fact and in effect, just get involved. An I missing something?
