I created an excel file and attached it to a message. I disabled send immediately. I pressed Send to send the message to the Outbox. I edited the excel file and saved the changes. I pressed send and receive. The old version of the excel file was sent - the one I attached to the OE message.
Once the message is committed to the outbox, the attachment is saved and you can change the original all you want - the old one will be sent. If you attach the file then edit it before pressing send (or save to drafts) the edited copy is attached. I'm not sure if save to drafts has different results if you leave the message open (I didn't test it) - in Outlook you might send the old version of the file or if you edit the message, the version of the message in drafts. If you delete the attachment after saving it to Outlook's drafts, the attachment may be sent. This drafts bug affects only certain builds of outlook - unless you save to drafts again before sending. AFAIK, this bug is strictly Outlook only, not OE. -- -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of James Button Sent: Friday, September 09, 2005 4:54 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Read-only XLS file??? Yes - and some frustrated recipients I believe that the experts are talking about replacing the file with a new version, but consider that the attachment is by file name, not by physical location so how is it to know the file content have been changed ( I won't say it happens with the currently fixed version, but it has certainly happened to me in the past) JimB -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
