True... but we are also heavily discounting the installation (down to free)... it's hard to make money if you do a free install, and then a month later they get a DSL promo in the mail and switch. You have lost about $200 on that one customer.
And _every_ cell phone company in the nation does contracts. People are used to them, and it also offers peace of mind knowing their pricing won't go up.
