Thanks for suggestions so far. Tried them but to no avail :-(

Still the egg-timer for a few seconds then nothing. Task Manager shows
Setup.exe process running, but no CPU resources. On shutting down, the
installer briefly re-appears.

I had copied folder, restarted, closed task-bar items and re-run Setup.

My Win.Ini in C:/WINDOWS under XP Pro is shown below in its entirety.
