A lot of software writers used GPL just to stick some license on it not realizing all the restrictions. Many have switched to LGPL because that's closer to what they really intended thought even it has restrictions that means you have to provide a way to link in the library. Since you have open-sourced WSJT-X is there any reason GPL wouldn't work for it? So you could static-link kvasd to your hearts content...
