Hi Again Hans,

I forgot to mention,

on Icom rigs you must disable "CI-V Transceive" mode in the rig menu. That mode is on by default but it generates unsolicited CAT traffic which causes data collisions and lost CAT conversations.

Hallo,

Hi Hans,

Installing program was easy, but all the rest worse.

Sorry you are having some issues with WSJT-X.
Using ICOM IC-7200 with connection to rig via USB ( Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge) like all other ICOM 7200 and 7600 users. That has worked fine with all versions of WSJT/WSPR except for this last version of WSJT-X.

Settings feels like a random happening sometimes. Options are there sometimes and sometimes not.

I used:

CAT Control

Serial port COM8 (as usual)

19200 baud 8bits one stop bit no handshake (all as usual)

PTT method CAT Port Com8 (fixed via a roundabout way, not needed in the older versions .... perhaps neither here ?)

WSJT-X now allows PTT through the CAT port using serial lines RTS or DTR, or via another serial port using RTS or DTR or if your rig supports it, via a CAT command. Your rig has the capability to SEND with a CAT command and I recommend that method to you.

Set the PTT Method to CAT.

Transmit Audio Source: Rig set to data mode expecting info via USB. Setting Rear/Data ( fixed in a very roundabout way as it was not reachable and initially set to Front/MIc)

Some rigs use a different CAT command to take transmit audio from the read data connection, the setting is there for those rigs and it is only enabled for those rigs. Icom rigs select the Tx audio source according to the rig modulation mode and via rig menu settings. I believe the 7200 takes Tx audio from the rear data socket when USB-DATA mode is selected. You need to change the rig setting "Modulation input (Data on)" to U(USB) to take Tx audio from the USB audio driver.

Mode USB (tried the other two settings with no luck)

None - doesn't change the mode of your rig. USB sets the mode to USB. Data/Pkt sets the mode of your rig to Data. The latter is the best choice so long as you have selected the correct Tx audio source in your rig menu.

Split Op None

Test CAT was OK

Test PTT was OK

RX works fine

TX starts with resetting audio out to 0 that is no TX

In recent Windows you must set speaker volume sliders while the device is active. I recommend setting the level for Tx from teh USB audio driver from your rig menu item "USB Level".

TX sometimes go on for ever

If you can provide repeatable steps to demonstrate that issue please report them here,
As I understand it you have changed code to control audio out setting and rig control compared to all the other versions
Yes we use a new audio subsystem that works much better and is more consistent across all the platforms we support. Also with rig control, because advanced dual mode JT9+JT65 and soon to be released EME Doppler tracking features need tight and accurate transceiver control, much work has been done to improve the stability of CAT and PTT functionality.

All the best Hans sm0vyi
