There was one user who was adamant that the slider was useful for the fast
graph and yagi steering.I did put a master slider on the fast graph which would
then allow the slider to disappear from the main window. That would require some
extra mouse movement for that one operating case.
But maybe a "flatten" option for the fast graph might eliminate that need? The
auto level doesn't quite do it from what I can gather...
P.S. The tooltip still has the +-* info. At a minimum I think the * clipping
indicator is of use. The +/- were more for the color blind folks and
nice-to-know things...but they may cause more questions then answers.

On balance I concluded that the additional information provided by a +-*
flag-with-memory was not sufficiently useful to justify complicating the
displayed dB level and requiring more descriptive text in the User Guide.
We might also do better by displaying dB to the nearest integer.
I agree with Edson that a horizontal line over the signal bar,
corresponding to the largest recent abs(x), might be a good idea.
The meter widget seems wider than necessary. Why?
Although I tend to use it for adjusting signal level on the Fast Graph,
I'm beginning to think that maybe the level-control slider should be
deemed unnecessary and eliminated.
