How about submitting a patch and a test case for "http://apache.org/xml/features/allow-XML1.1"?
:)
If the Apache committers were seriously interested in this, I suspect I could write a test case. I'm not sure I know enough about the Xerces internals to write a decent patch for the code itself though. As I said, I'm very nervous about the code I wrote for my own use. But if it were decided that this was a good idea, then I guess I'd be willing to try. Somebody would have to give my code a thorough going over before committing it though.
I do suspect that this would be better as a general SAX feature. Something like
http://xml.org/sax/features/allow-XML1.1
Xerces is hardly the only parser that's likely to need this, after all. I've cc'd the sax-devel list so we can get the relevant discussion going over there.
