Betty,
In 1.0, it was a stand-alone server. In 1.1, it is either an embedded server or it is an XML-RPC server using Tomcat.

What you are going to have to do is get the latest code from CVS.
If you go to the Apache Web Site, they have instructions on how
to get Xindice. When you do that, there will be a build.bat.
I believe we are getting close to a 1.1 beta release, which
should do all of this for you. However, you will still have to
install Tomcat.

Is there any documentation anywhere on how to install and use 1.1 as an embedded database? Even some raw notes? I'm likely to make a shot at this in updating my application (which currently uses 1.0), as I don't want my users (who will likely not be techies) having to install Tomcat/Cocoon/Apache, nor do I want to deliver and boot a complex server with my application (i.e., I think embedded is fine if I can figure out how to install and use it).

Thanks much,

Murray
