cdes I titally agree with cde Lazola, infact i raised some of his facts when YCL decided to contest elections in KZN. Cdes im convinced and my experience tohught me well to identify opportunism. For any ANCYL and YCL branch to contest elections stands to be questioned and scrutinised coz most of the time if not all is opportunistic because SASCO is under attact due to any reason. Mst reasons that lead to sasco becoming unpopular are factions caused by leadership and power struggles, bussiness interests(tender issuing), SRC related corruption and so on. Sasco cdes ussually fail to solve those problems and some will run away to launch ANCYL or YCL and start contesting elections. If they are culprits at Sasco they will remaim culprits even to YCL or YL. If they failed to stop culprits at Sasco they will fail even at YL or YCL. Let there be no YCL or AANCYL branch to contest elections in institutions where sasco is available. Those cdes must make sasco strong, not to run away coz they will think that is a strategy.
