That is completely irrelevant and somewhat misleading. FreeBSD has never prohibited non-BSD-licensed code in their kernel or userland however it has always been optional and, AFAIR, the GENERIC kernel has always defaulted to only contain BSD code. Non-BSD code (whether GPL or CDDL) is carefully segregated (note the 'gnu' in the above URI). -- Peter Jeremy
