GNUstep back and base in OpenBSD 7.4 ARM

2024-02-04 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi misc,
I was hoping to install GNUstep packages in ARM but it seems gnustep-back
and gnustep-base are not yet available in ARM.
I was under the impression that these are needed to start basic GNUstep
development.
Please advise what options are available to move forward.
Also addressed to Sebastian Reitenbach.
Thank you.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Geoserver Rendering Transformations: Current Arrows problem

2024-02-02 Thread Riccardo Mari
Hi list,
I temporarily solved the issue by changing part of the sld style like this:

...

   scale

   wms_scale_denominator

 1000
 0.035

...

The style now works for all EPSG codes except 4326.
I'm waiting for any suggestions.

Riccardo

[Geoserver-users] Geoserver Rendering Transformations: Current Arrows problem

2024-01-31 Thread Riccardo Mari
Hi everyone,
I'm writing to you because I have a problem with a sld style that displays
currents direction using the ras:RasterAsPointCollection function.
In recent days I have updated geoserver from version 2.16.1 to version
2.24.2 and everything works as before except for the rendering
transformation.
The ras:RasterAsPointCollection and wms_scale_denominator variable works
correctly (scales the points based on the zoom) only for EPSG:4326 while
for other EPSG codes the interpolation does not work.
I also tried with version 2.24.1 and 2.23.4.
At this link you can find the style and some example data.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fmRNMVjO834OiGfcfQXtQoBgPLSx5QG9?usp=sharing

Could the problem be caused by the style or is it a geoserver/geotools
issue?
Thanks in advance for the support, regards, Riccardo

Re: ConsumeKafka to PublishKafka doesn't keep the order of the messages in the destination topic

Hi Mark ,
I appreciate your advice. Upon examination, implementing the queue as a
"First In First Out" prioritizer and configuring the load balancing
strategy to "Partition by attribute" with the "kafka.partition" attribute
has proven effective in maintaining the order.

Thanks

 In my case, all the NIFI nodes functioned well during the replication so I
guess this is not my case, but it's a good point to consider.

I was hoping that it would run X86 or AMD64 binary but it didn't.
On the ARM64 side, I was expecting an ISO that I can run thru VMware Fusion
since it only accepts and runs ARM64 binaries.
Admittedly, this is a new territory for me as I saiid and was asking if
anybody went thru this route before.

OpenBSD on M1 Mac using VMware Fusion 13

2023-11-26 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi misc,
I want to run OpenBSD on company issued M1 Mac through VMware Fusion 13,
for experiments and development.
I tried to use the ARM64 image but it does not seem to work, it's my first
time to use non-X86 machine.
Has anyone here been able to run OpenBSD on M1 Mac through VMware Fusion
before?
Much as I want to run it on the hardware, since this a company-issued
laptop, I opted to use VMware instead.
Hope somebody can point me in the right direction on this one.
Thank you.

2023-08-04 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi,
Can somebody please point me to the GNUstep Testsuite resources?
I clicked the link in

404, supposedly pointing to something in Github but it seems it's no longer
there.
I was hoping to learn how test-driven development is done in GNUstep and
Objective-C.
Please advise.
Thank you.

Re: CIAM recommendation

Thanks for the response Tobias. Hope you can share with me your references
on setting up a CIAM running on OpenBSD.
I ran into FusionAuth and liked what I saw on client self-service
registration and web-based user identity management; though they are
Java-based, it seems that their disappointing definition of open source is
that it runs on Linux.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
Can you please recommend package(s) I can setup on OpenBSD to create a CIAM
or customer identity and access management system? This is to provide SSO
between enterprise applications. While it's easy to go for Linux option, I
prefer to build on top of the security offered by OpenBSD from the ground
up.
Would appreciate your pointers on this.
Thank you.

Re: yacc.h

2022-04-18 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Thanks for the response Omar.
The tarball can be downloaded from
https://sourceforge.net/projects/objc/files/src/objc-3.3.25.tar.gz
The error is illustrated below:
[image: portable obj compiler error.png]
I already installed Bison hoping it will provide yacc.h, but it didn't also
include that file.
I also tried using the y.tab.h file but it had the same error.
I tried to comment out the yacc.h header, still got the same error message.

I'm trying to build Portable Object Compiler from

I have the build tools installed during initial installation, so I was
wondering where the problem is.
Is there such a thing as yacc.h in any package or ports?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Thank you very much for the question (and the work you have been doing to
improve KDE!).

In the meantime I have upgraded my working environment to:
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.16.11-2-MANJARO (64-bit)

Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 15,5 GiB of RAM

I confirm that the problem does NOT occur anymore in this configuration.

[go-nuts] Re: Environment setup for developing golang/go

2022-02-25 Thread Francesco Mari
Thanks for sharing this! Picking up on that configuration, I found this
piece of documentation about gopls [1]. I followed these steps:

   - Check out github.com/golang/go to /Users/frm/src/go.
   - Build the language distribution as described here [2].
   - Create a new VSCode workspace at /Users/frm/src/go.code-workspace
   (shown below).
   - Add the necessary directories and configuration to the workspace.
   - Restart the language server.
   - Reinstall/Update all the tools.

This is the workspace configuration. I wanted to use the minimum amount of
configuration, so I could understand what the right options really are.

{
"folders": [
{
"path": "go/src/cmd"
},
{
"path": "go/test"
},
{
"path": "go/src"
}
],
"settings": {
"go.goroot": "/Users/frm/src/go"
}
}

After following the steps above, I managed to have navigation and code
completion in my editor.

standard library. I cloned github.com/golang/go and noticed that the
src/cmd directory contains a go.mod. I opened my editor (Visual Studio Code
+ Go plugin) in the src/cmd directory. I expected to be able to navigate
the code like I normally do, but something about that project makes my
editor unhappy.

I assume that there are people here that already have their favourite
editor/IDE set up to contribute to the language itself. Can you please
share your setup? Are there any tips and tricks you can share to have code
navigation and autocompletion working in golang/go?

Re: Clang/LLVM migration roadmap

2022-02-06 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi everyone,
I think the GNUstep project will have to be pragmatic based on the project
goals, and the goals we also have to re-evaluate:
1) Is GNUstep as a project required to be and should functionally be tied
closely with the GCC toolchain?
2) Is GNUstep required to use GCC toolchain to qualify as an FSF sponsored
project? This I think is more political than technical in any angle.
3) Is GNUstep valuing technical and functional compability with OpenStep
and Cocoa over whatever toolchain to use to maintain that compatibility?
4) Clang/LLVM was initiated by Apple, if I recall correctly, precisely
because GCC support for Objective-C is not at par with C and C++ support,
will the GCC maintainers be compelled to improve Objective-C support if we
stay or we move out?
If we can unanimously answer these questions, I think we can and will move
the project forward.
My two cents is that GNUstep project should use whatever tools and
platforms that move it's goals and objectives forward.
Thanks.

Test Driven Development in GNUstep

2021-11-06 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi everyone,
Looking for test driven development tools for Objective-C, I ran into
OCUnit  and OCMock <
https://ocmock.org/>, are these commendable tools to use with GNUstep?
What are the recommended alternative if these are not viable?
Please provide pointers on specific versions we should work with since it
seems the most recent versions are iOS-specific and if there are things we
should watch out for when using these tools with GNUstep.
Thanks so much.

Re: [plug] Share partition to two local users

2021-09-14 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
You can mount the /dev/sda1 to a subdirectory, say /home/commonspace, then:

chmod 777

This will enable both of you to access it. There are other means to secure
access to this storage device.

Thanks Tomohiro Oda! I have unchecked the option "use custom SSH keys" and
it's working perfectly.
Is it an issue or maybe I missed something? I think the path and the other
fields, ssh userName = "git" and the passphrase were ok...anyway now works

Start pharo image and enable ssh keys in iceberg but now I have an

On my part there’s no plan to commercialize this and will produce nothing
more than 10 shirts.

Permit to reprint tshirt artwork

Good day,
I really like the tshirt design as illustrated here:
https://www.openbsd.org/images/tshirt-23.gif

I bought this shirt before and I was hoping to buy at least one but as per
https://www.openbsd.org/tshirts.html this is out of print.

Can you please point me to whom I should ask permission to reprint
t-shirts with this design?

Thanks and regards.

[Pharo-users] Re: Communication between different images

2021-07-03 Thread Jesus Mari Aguirre
On ZeroMQ it could be something like that...first you need a broker (a
proxy) using XSUB and XPUB.
In one pharo image... (I think this part better be done in C because it
will freezy the image forever but it works)

 | frontend backend |
frontend := ZmqXSubscriberSocket new.
frontend bind: 'tcp://*:5559'.
backend := ZmqXPublisherSocket new.
backend bind: 'tcp://*:5560'.
ZmqProxy frontend: frontend backend: backend capture: nil

In any publisher or subscriber...

publisher := ZmqPublisherSocket new connect: 'tcp://localhost:5559'.

pr1 := [
|subscriber1|
subscriber1 := ZmqSubscriberSocket new connect: 'tcp://localhost:5560'.
[true] whileTrue:[
  "receive is non blocking so this is an infinite loop"

subscriber1 receiveIfAvailable: [ :messageData|

messageData isEmpty ifFalse:[Transcript show: ('Subscriber 1 got stuff ' ,
messageData);cr]]

]] forkNamed: 'subscriber1'.

"Publish doing that"
 publisher send: ('Hello Subscribers') asByteArray.

[Pharo-users] Re: Communication between different images

2021-07-01 Thread Jesus Mari Aguirre
As far as I know, zmq doesn't need a broker but subscribers should know the
address of the publisher, if the network increases its complexity with more
publishers you need a broker, that is a proxy on zmq.
If I understand well you need any of them should be able to publish a
change to all of the other images?

2021-06-29 Thread Jesus Mari Aguirre
Maybe ZeroMQ fits you, but unlucky is not documented and there are only a
few examples. I use ir in my jupyter kernel. You can install my port to
pharo64 uFFI doing:

Metacello new
baseline: 'JupyterTalk';
repository: 'github://jmari/JupyterTalk:master/repository';
load:'zmq'

But it needs ZeroMQ previously installed on your system.
It was ported from http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~panuw/zeromq now it is at:
https://github.com/dellani/zeroMQ but I'm not sure if the original repo
works on newer PharosI had no time to contact the original author to
join both repos...

[plasmashell] [Bug 430659] New: external monitor flickering

2020-12-21 Thread Luca Mari
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430659

Bug ID: 430659
   Summary: external monitor flickering
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.5
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: lucapaolom...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Running Kubuntu on a laptop, the windows of some applications have random
flickering when moved to an external monitor, whereas the laptop monitor always
works correctly. In the worst cases the external monitor becomes black until
the flickering window is closed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
With Kubuntu on a laptop, the window of an application that is opened or moved
to an external monitor flickers, and in some cases the external monitor becomes
black. This happens very often but only with some apps: for example Thunderbird
and Firefox, and sometimes Libreoffice, but not Chrome (and the KDE apps I
tested work well too).
The external monitor is connected to the laptop with a VGA cable.

I have already tried what follows, with no results:
-- when possible, disabled hardware acceleration in the concerned apps;
-- set the external monitor as a replica or an extension of the laptop monitor;
-- changed the external monitor Refresh rate and Resolution;
-- changed all parameters of the Compositor (Scale method, Rendering backend,
Tearing prevention);
-- changed XOrg to Wayland.

Operating System: Kubuntu 20.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Kernel Version: 5.8.0-33-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz

--- Comment #16 from Luca Mari  ---
With my configuration (Kubuntu 20.10, KDE Plasma 5.19.5) the bug appears only
in the specific case an external monitor is attached. In this case my setting
of Desktop Layout, Desktop, is always changed to Folder View.

Default installurl and Package Source

2020-12-08 Thread Tito Mari Francis Escaño
Hi misc,
I recently installed 6.8 on VM then applied errata patches.
When I tried to install git, it complained that git is not in the
packages-stable folder, I was pleasantly surprised. The
/etc/installurl by default is http://cdn.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD, and
I got error 503 on the site. Checking the default URL indicates it may
be down, same goes for Cloudflare CDN, Verizon seems working alright.
When I changed /etc/installurl to where I used to get packages:
http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/OpenBSD, it worked as expected.
This raised the following questions:
Does this mean when we apply errata patches, we're now automatically
using stable release and need to use stable packages?
Is it advisable to keep the /etc/installurl automatically default to
http://cdn.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD or should users be advised to
select packages from package sources geographically near them?
Please advise. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Pipelining in HTTP 1.1

2020-10-01 Thread Dorit Mari via curl-library
Hello,

I know that support for pipelining in HTTP 1.1 was removed
(https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/2f44e94efb3df8e50bb2ddbc4ec6b569a6424517).
In our application, we need to use pipelining in HTTP 1.1, so we are trying to
restore and fix the pipelining support in libcurl.
In the commit that removed pipelining, it's written below that "pipelining code
had a few rather nasty known issues". Does anyone know what were these issues,
and what part of the code caused them?
Currently, we "patched" the old pipelining code on a recent libcurl version.
Under low load it works OK, but under high load with TLS (e.g. 300 HTTP
requests per second) we encounter problems; requests time out, and afterwards
libcurl keeps opening and closing connections repeatedly, for no clear reason.
Is this one of the known problems that led to removing the pipelining code?

Thanks,
Dorit

RE: High CPU Usage when using libcurl with c-ares

2020-06-22 Thread Dorit Mari via curl-library
Hi,

We upgraded the version of libcurl we're working with to 7.70.0, and the
problem persists.
I'm sorry, but currently I can't produce a small example source code that
reproduces the issue.
What do you mean by "resolver socket" and "transfer socket"?
Since the problem happens under heavy load of multiple parallel HTTP requests,
I don't think I can't point to a specific "transfer state".

Thanks,
Dorit

Wow, that's seem super strange. How on earth can the resolving code - that you
don't even use - affect the CPU load of the transfer phase? And to that serious
degree!

Does the resolver socket linger around during the transfer for you so that you
monitor and "act" on it too, in addition to the transfer socket?

In which transfer states do you see this increased CPU load, do you know?

Can you show us a small example source code that reproduces the load issue for
you?

> Is there any such known problem/solution?

Not that I can think of. It is of course always clever to build with the latest
version as a test shot and see if it makes anything different, it
*might* save us from debugging and chasing ghosts.

High CPU Usage when using libcurl with c-ares

2020-06-14 Thread Dorit Mari via curl-library
Hi,

I encountered a problem of high CPU usage when using libcurl with c-ares option.

I'm using libcurl in a program for sending many HTTP requests in parallel (with
a Multi handle). I use libcurl with libev, loosely based on the example in
https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/evhiperfifo.html.
I use libcurl version 7.65.3. The OS is Linux.
I always use CURLOPT_RESOLVE option to specify the resolution of the
destination host, so libcurl shouldn't be doing any DNS resolutions (and
indeed, the only functions in asyn-ares.c that are called are
Curl_resolver_init, Curl_resolver_kill, Curl_resolver_cancel,
destroy_async_data and Curl_resolver_cleanup).
When libcurl is compiled with flag "--enable-ares", the CPU usage of the
relevant thread is much higher than the same code, but with libcurl compiled
without this flag (45% vs. 12%).

Is there any such known problem/solution?

Thanks,
Dorit

[Pharo-users] Primitive is not executed

2020-06-09 Thread Jesus Mari Aguirre
I am developing a "numpy arrays" like framework on pharo, I decided to use
an Array type depending on the class of its elements (I thought it would be
more efficient) i.e if the array contains floats it will be stored in a
floatArray but if contains integers, a IntegerArray will be used.
I make an extensive use of use of the method replaceFrom: start to: stop
with: replacement startingAt: repStart when I do concat and other methods
that imply copying but I've realize that primitive 105 is not executes when
I call this method from these kind of arrays but it works if I use a normal
Array.
What do you suggest me to do? is it better to use the normal Array for
every type of content or is it a bugg? Is FloatArray/IntegerArray more
efficient in any way? If not...what is their purpose?

replaceFrom: start to: stop with: replacement startingAt: repStart
"Primitive. This destructively replaces elements from start to stop in the
receiver starting at index, repStart, in the collection, replacement.
Answer the receiver. Range checks are performed in the primitive only.
Optional. See Object documentation whatIsAPrimitive."

super replaceFrom: start to: stop with: replacement startingAt: repStart

libcurl - HTTP - The logic for reusing connections and the reasons for closing connections

2020-06-07 Thread Dorit Mari via curl-library
Hello,

I'm looking for help understanding the way libcurl reuses connections and the
reasons for it closing connections which should be reusable for sending HTTP
requests
(HTTP 1.1 protocol).
I'm using libcurl in a program for sending many HTTP requests in parallel. I
use libcurl with libev, loosely based on the example in
https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/evhiperfifo.html.
I use libcurl version 7.65.3.
I use libcurl to send HTTP requests at a constant rate for some minutes
(between 8 - 30 minutes). The destination is always an explicit IP address (no
DNS resolution needed).
My problem is that during my test runs, libcurl closes connections, and later
opens new connections to the same destinations.

I set option CURLMOPT_MAXCONNECTS with a very large number, and so connections
don't close because of a limitation on the max size of the connection's cache.
In a setup with Windows OS, I send ~60 HTTP requests per second, all to the
same constant IP address. Even though the load stays constant for minutes,
libcurl occasionally
closes a connection because it hasn't been used for too long (in function
"conn_maxage"), and shortly afterwards it opens another connection to the same
destination.
I know libcurl has multiple connections open towards the same destination due
to the load. How come it doesn't use one of them for almost 2 minutes, leading
to its closure? libcurl did send many more requests during the 2 minutes than
the number of open connections. I assumed that libcurl chooses which connection
to reuse
in a round-robin manner. Is it not so? How libcurl chooses which of the open
connections to use when it sends a request? Is this behavior influenced by some
CURL option? Can someone please direct me to the code where libcurl chooses a
free connection from the cache for sending a request?

In another setup with Linux OS, I need to send hundreds (e.g. 600) of HTTP
requests per second. There are 10 destination IP addresses. I send requests to
them
in a roughly balanced manner. libcurl also closes connections in this case;
this time, it does it both from function "conn_maxage", and from function
"multi_done"
(("conn->bits.close" is true, although I didn't use an option to prevent
libcurl from reusing connections, and
"(premature && !(conn->handler->flags & PROTOPT_STREAM))" is true). I read the
comments describing these conditions, but I don't really understand...
Can someone please explain why libcurl closes the connection in this case?

Thanks,
Dorit

As far as I understand the closed issue 5746 should fix the problem
musicxml2ly generating the note name "bes" instead of "heses" with

In fact the problem is not fixed in the actual git repository. See my

At least the output of musicxml2ly should be consistent with lilypond
and should not not give an error message when compiling.

Here the german Wikipedia for "double flat b":

wrong note name conversion in musicxml2ly

2020-02-09 Thread mari+lilypond
when converting a mxl file with "musicxml2ly --language=deutsch" the
note "beses" is converted to "bes". Lilypond gives an error at this
notename with \language "deutsch", because the correct german notename
for "double flat b" is "heses". This happens with all musicxml2ly
versions at least from 2.18.2 to 2.21.0.

Hello Guys,

This is one tricky question, Please review the problem statement and advise
me how to get into further.

I have pipeline code which is combined of groovy and sh script. Refer the
below sample one, based on that the line 4 code should be execute once ssh
commend done in the target server completely which meant the triggered
shell script takes time to complete in target server, so its depends on
load in the script, by that we cannot put static sleep time after the line
3. what is the best way to achieve that.

node{

line 2 code
sh "ssh @: sh abc.sh or scb// line 3
line 4 code

Re: Hivemall ffm classifier and class weights

2019-10-31 Thread Shadi Mari
Hi Makoto,

libffm and Xlearn does not support class weights. However ML.NET
<http://ml.net/> does!

Class weighting is another approach to handle imbalance datasets other than
downsampling/oversampling; its a sort of a cost-sensitive learning.

I am not sure how SQL will help given than weights have to be incorporated
into the loss function during training.

Thanks

Hello
I am having extremely imbalanced dataset and trying to find support for

Is this feature supported, otherwise i had to go with negative downsampling.

Re: [NTG-context] Page number woes

2019-09-05 Thread Mari Voipio
Well, this was total waste of space from my part. When I found a
working file in a different project and copied the code over I
realized that my problem code should never have worked: I had
\setuppagenumber[stop] when I should have had
\setuppagenumber[state=stop]. Adding "state=" to my non-working code
solved all the problems and page numbering works the way I want to
have it.

And, as Wolfgang explained, I really don't need
\setuppagenumber[state=start] in the beginning of bodymatter, so now I
can even clean up my code a bit. Thank you, Wolfgang, I think I
understand blocks better now.

> The \setuppagenumber command takes an assignment as argument but in your
> example you pass keywords to it.
>
> When you change the setting in the frontmatter to
> \setuppagenumber[state=stop] the numbers disappear. Since settings in a
> sectionblock are local there is no need to enable the counter in the
> bodypart because the previous setting is forgotten.
>
> When I look in your attached files I see that some file contain the
> setting \setuppagenumber[state=stop] which disabled the page counter.
