Both stations running non-standard modulation, and will be operating from

Both stations will switch to ALE400 for a 24
Hi John,
Using RFSM 2400, I was able to connect with the non standard mode, but
had to go to 50 watts, and initially showed a 5 dB S/N connection, but
nothing would go through. There is a beep tone at the beginning of each
transmission and I see a large spike on the spectrum display which I
Recently, I had my first narrow SSTV contact with WB8ROL. I saw the
signal and guessed that was what it was and brought up MMSSTV. I had
earlier tried sending some CQ's but finally determined that the mode I
needed was the N mode. Need to stress that to those who are planning to
use these

is pretty ambitious for the band conditions
great to see you try , though.

Now the most confusing thing is how do you handle text data vs the

using the same mode, what do you do after the initial exchange of

Question: what other modes are there in MMSSTV that will work in
the narrow 500 Hz bandwidth?
I think its limited to
mp73-n, mp-110-n, mp140-n and the
mc110-n, mc140-n, mc180-n modes.
Unluckily i have never found a station qrv in those modes...
Hi Brad,
What I am looking for would be a way to include a picture as part of the
contact but not as the main object of the contact. More of a multi-media
concept, but done with relatively narrow modes.
If you remember back a into the 1990's, when Peter, TY1PS was very
active with Clover II
I have been monitoring the frequency all afternoon, but there is SWBC of
course and getting stronger as the evening approaches. Tried one more
time, and it did indicate a connect, but then disconnected after a few
attempts.
The large file I was attempting to send was not so much to send the

I thought I read some thing about a way you could use MFSK16 or some
other narrow mode and then
Rick,
Patrick sent me this... wanna play? :-)
There is a Word document which goal is to show from two Multipsk
snapshots how to do the basic operations in SSTV in MFSK16. This
document (0.5 Mo) is available from my site site

There are a few of us experimenting with MP73-N on 10.132 MHz (USB).
There is no set schedule as yet but some additional information can be

All,
The RFI problem has been resolved. It turned out to be a charger for an
electric motorbike left on cycle mode. The power company investigator
left a note on my door explaining what it was. I don't have the details
as to what kind of motorbike or charger, but I will pass that
information
Great news Tony.

Do any of the IARU regions allow voice on 14070? I ask, because around
1800EST, there was a S9+10 signal around this frequency. I wasn't in the
same room as the rig, but was able to confirm (by turning the rig WAY

I have ben hearing what sounds like Vietnamese on 14.070 LSB. I suspect
bootleg operation.
FYI I used notch filtering to eliminate the strong psk signals.
A few weeks ago I heard both sides of an SSB QSO in English. I suspect
a different problem of cox keying there...

Has anyone ever experimented with the 2 tone Olivia submodes?
How does say the 2/250 mode compare to regular RTTY?

technically Canada allows voice on 14070, or anywhere else for that matter.
in practice hams here follow the region 2 bandplan, although not mandatory
suspect there are a number of other countries who do not specifiy mode

It should be better, because of the Walsh code layer.
I have used it for tests among other Olivia modes, but never compared
RTTY and 2/250 Olivia. It worked fairly well, but it was just for
curiosity sake, more than anything else. It was not a serious, well
planned, exhaustive test.
73,
Great news Tony.
Thanks Andy -- the RFI problem was resolved in 48 hours. I guess it
doesn't get any better than that!
Thanks for putting up with the off-topic posts Andy.
