Personally I think the re-introduction of melody/harmony/song structure into techno recently takes much more influence from old disco and house than trance.
Funny this should come up as recently I suggested that Inspiration on UR was very trance like with its big lead line. What I wouldn't want to see is a scene where people are afraid of using these elements because they might be accused of being 'trancey'. Personally I'd rather listen to Jaguar than looped bangers any day. emile
