Dunno bout that, as far as I'm concerned if you can't tell which side of a record's which when you're DJing (and therefore hopefully the lights are down low) by looking at it, without having to put it on the deck and use the
cans, it's just a nuisance.

That's function over form. The process is very different. You can't invent or use a process to be creative.
