> take any Madonna album - ANY of them - hell take ALL of them together >> you won't come up with 6 total songs that she composed herself
I think you have to give credit differently - she's a pop stylist. It's normal now for pop artists to use producers. Sure it's a shame - but the artists lose out in the end with no publishing. There's less individualism too. But I would say there is enough creative input in the Madonna package for her to be an important artist. She is a facilitator like no other. She turned 'image' into an artform. > Bowie had talent - and it's waning naturally now as he has gotten older > (nothing wrong with that at all and I think it's to be expected). > Madonna is relying on others to keep her own career going - she fired > LaChappelle because he refused to make her look younger than she is for her > new video > he stated that himself - so much for her stance against ageism. You can do > anything at any age as long as you don't look older. I think you'll find all women contradictory, inconsistent and insecure when it comes to the age issue - they want to defy it, but in the end, we are in a world in which women's value is determined by (1) weight (2) age, in the west anyway. It's blunt but that's it. Anyone who denies that is deluding themselves or flattering themselves to be politically correct. Femininity depreciates - Madonna can defy that all she wants, but how do you change thought patterns that have existed for eons.
