On the contrary, Bowie got lambasted for trying Drum n' Bass on

The difference between Bowie (who is the best comparison to Madge)
and Madonna is that Bowie was indisputably *the* Artist Of The 70's
(just look at his albums, no one else comes close) before slowly
fading into irrelevance after "Let's Dance", whereas Madonna ... erm.
(Since when was Madonna *ever* "cutting edge"?!?)
