'Bad' is subjective. I don't think those artefacts are in there by
accident. Some people - not just Theo Parrish - record distortion in
their mixes deliberately as an aesthetic measure don't they?

Not sure what I think of it. Sometimes it seems to work, at others it
doesn't - and also of course digital clipping always seems to be bad to
the ears whereas the analogue distortion/clipping effect can often sound
quite pleasing.

And we definitely know it was deliberate because the tracks originally
appeared over a decade ago. And people complained about how 'crunchy'
some of them where back then as well!

I'm glad you mentioned that clipping... I wondered whether it was just
my copy. I noticed this especially on 'Friendly Children'. Actually, now
I come to think of it, I have his 'Contemporyhthms 2' mix CR-R and it
sounds a bit crunchy at points.

Maybe Theo has bad ears.
